Ingredients
(Apple Butter)
- 6 Opal Apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
(To Assemble Board)
- 2 Opal Apple, cored and sliced
- 3 Cheeses {like Cheddar, Gouda, Blue, Goat Cheese or Brie)
- Crackers
- Nuts
- Grapes
- Cornichons
Directions
Place the apples in a slow cooker. Combine the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt together in a bowl. Pour this mixture and the vanilla over the apples and mix well. Cook on low for 6 hours, stirring occasionally. Let the apple cool completely before blending them smooth.
Transfer some of the apple butter to a bowl for serving and freeze or refrigerate the remaining. Place the apple butter bowl in the center of the board. Arrange the cheeses first. Add the nuts and apple slices, fill in spaces with crackers then layer in some grapes and cornichons. Serve immediately.
